Duties and Responsibilities
Functions / Key Results Expected
The Research Associate is expected to carry out the following activities:|
a. Support the Project Manager of the PMU in coordination of the various activities around the Publication of the Flagship report.
The report will involve detailed consultations with the key authors and academic institutions that would be engaged in the development of the key workstreams of the report. The Research Associate will support the Project Manager in the organization of various consultations and discussions. Background notes relevant to the discussions will be prepared and shared by the Research Associate.

b. Contribute to defining the Scope of Work of the Flagship Report
While the key pillars of the Flagship report have been identified, the scope of work under each pillar will have to be scoped out.  This will have to be arrived at through detailed stakeholder consultations, extensive literature review and discussions with the CDRI and other key partners. The Research Associate will have to carry out independent and guided research on the various pillars. These inputs will have a critical role in helping the CDRI finalize the scope of work.

c.Review the draft inputs from the technical experts
The Research Associate will support the CDRI and the PMU of the Flagship report in reviewing the various technical reports submitted by the consultants and academic partner institutes. The Research Associate will review and prepare summary notes of each of the outputs and provide detailed feedback to the PMU so that feedback could be provided accordingly. The Research Associate will support the PMU in following up with the technical partners the various outputs expected from them.

d. Knowledge Events
As part of the development of the report, the CDRI will have to lead and organize various knowledge events such as workshops, webinars, consultation meetings etc around the key milestones of the report publication. This will involve advance planning, coordination with other stakeholders, development of outcome documents, social media engagement etc. As knowledge events play a critical role in contributing to the CDRI’s international visibility, these are critical milestones. The Research Associate will have a key role to play in supporting the PMU in the smooth organization of these events.

e. Miscellaneous Tasks
Respond to specific requests made by the CDRI. Working closely with the DG and the management team to help the CDRI implement its annual workplan around the Flagship report.  

Reporting: The Research Associate will be placed at the CDRI office in New Delhi and will report to the Director General of the CDRI.

1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Disaster risk reduction, Engineering Architecture, Environment Sciences or closely related fields. A Master’s degree in these fields will be highly desirable.
2. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience required. Experience of working in the field of Disaster Management & climate change is desirable. Experience of working with international organizations will be an advantage.
3. Language Requirements: Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English
4. Remuneration package is INR 119,175/- per month (taxable). UNDP also offers additional benefits which include medical insurance coverage and limited pension reimbursement for contract holder and encourages work life balance.

Contract Duration: One Year
